Frequently asked questions

is there a minimum gpa requirement?

No! While we have a baseline GPA that we encourage our members to strive for, it is important to note that this baseline GPA is simply used to ensure that we appropriately schedule academic resources and support. Our goal is to support our members to reach their academic and personal goals, so this is simply a factor in reviewing that!

I don’t go to umanitoba, can i still join?

As much as we’d like to welcome any women interested in Alpha Phi, our chapter only accepts those who are going to school at the University of Manitoba. We have to stick to the rules!

is this only open to undergrads?

Yes, we are only able to bid undergraduate students who are considered full-time by the University. This means that you are registered in a minimum of three courses per term or have an alternate agreement with the Student Accessibility Service (SAS)

how much of an investment is involved?

It varies between sororities on campus and often changes each year once our Finance Department calculates dues and fees. If you’d like to discuss specific numbers for each academic term, please message us on our Facebook or Instagram @manitobaalphaphi.

is it a big time commitment?

It all depends on you! We understand that as students with other responsibilities, we might not have time to attend certain events and that’s okay. To give you a basic idea: we have hour long weekly meetings, sisterhoods and wellness events each month, big events like our Philanthropy Gala and Formal, and so much more. As for required events, this is mostly during recruitment season

Of course, sisters can always spend time with one another outside of formal events! You determine how much you want out of Alpha Phi by how much time you put in, however we’re here to support you and do our best to accommodate your schedule!
